In the District Centre a new 1,115 square metre Library is to be built at a construction cost of half
a million pounds and this has been included in the 1983/84 capital programme. In the meantime Len
Hobbs is pleased to say that the mobile library service is to be extended this summer to provide a
van with a lift for the elderly and disabled to be located at the District Centre. Also a Fire Station is

Recently a meeting between Councillors, Thamesdown Officers and parents of Freshbrook took place
about the play area off Worsley Road. A number of serious matters were raised - tar from the wood,
danger noise late at night. The council is seriously looking into these concerns and we intend to
keep a close watch to ensure Freshbrook parents get their complaints satisfactorily dealt with. Any
