people he met whilst installing his
work on site made positive
comments. 'There were some
negative reactions, but I was most
surprised that nobody knew of the
area's Roman history.
"If there wasn't some con-
troversy about the work it wouldn't
have meaning. Unless a piece of art
stimulates discussion and argu-
ment, its value for me is reduced.
My sculpture is not something to
walk by; I hope it challenges you
and gets you thinking."
The sculpture was funded by the
Southern Arts Association and the
Borough of Thamesdown.
Kirsten passes
with merit
A young clarinet player at
Greendown School has shown
exceptional ability for her age.
