Residents of an older people's housing scheme in Swindon cam together to brighten up their communal garden.
Westminster Court in Toothill is run by The Guinness Partnership, one of England’s largest housing associations.
After successfully applying for funding through Guinness’s Residents Wellbeing Fund, flowers and soil were purchased and residents joined staff to fill planters with beautiful flowers.
Four communal benches and three planters, which had seen better days, were also painted by staff and residents.
One resident said: “Taking pride in your surroundings is so important for your mental health.”
During a well-earned lunch break, residents enjoyed tea, coffee and some delicious sandwiches and chatted about the benefits of the community day, bringing staff and residents closer together and improving residents’ wellbeing.
Donald, an Independent Living Adviser at The Guinness Partnership, said: “All staff involved had a brilliant fun day, engaging and helping residents with the garden work.”
The Guinness Partnership was founded over 135 years ago and is one of the largest affordable housing providers in England.
