A social media expert who has been helping businesses grow their online presence for five years is now celebrating the benefits of meeting offline.
She is doing so by staging face-to-face outdoor networking events, which also raise funds for local charity.
Tracy Marland founded Swindon-based Social Butterfly Digital in 2019, bringing together her decades of marketing experience to provide a social media service to SMEs in the area.
While the business is based on making digital connections, collaborations and interactions, they are going offline to start bringing people together face-to-face and enjoying the outdoors.
Social Butterfly Digital have launched bimonthly ‘net-walking' events, working with Real Outdoor Xperience, an outdoor activity centre by Lake 12 in the Cotswold Water Park, and the charity Youth Adventure Trust, which uses outdoor adventure and activities alongside one-to-one support to empower vulnerable young people.
The next event is planned for Thursday 23 January, starting at 9.30am from Lake 12.
“Social Butterfly Digital has been creating digital connections and conversations via social media for our clients for five years, helping their businesses grow by engaging new audiences and showcasing the good work their businesses are doing.
“But we also recognise the importance of having digital breaks, putting the phone down and getting outdoors with others.
“I saw the perfect opportunity to work with Real Outdoor Xperience and the charity Youth Adventure Trust, which both promote the benefits of being outdoors. The charity is close to my heart, helping children to build resilience and confidence for life.”
This year, Social Butterfly Digital celebrated its first half-decade of helping SMEs with their social media. Now a team of three, Tracy is supported by Sally Payne and Annmarie Degregorio-Boyd and has plans for further growth, recruiting in the New Year.
The team work with 25-plus businesses monthly, from a range of sectors including hospitality, engineering, manufacturing, therapists and retail, helping them engage with their audiences across all social media platforms.
Social Butterfly Digital offers different levels of service, including fully outsourced social media management, content creation and engagement, content strategy, and training, so businesses can manage their own activity. Much of the content is now video-driven, which has become a priority for most of the platforms.
