The Prospect Hospice is offering members of the public a tree collection service in exchange for a donation this year.

Those celebrating Christmas with a real tree this year, you can also support Prospect Hospice by having it collected.

The hospice has teamed up with the charity Just Helping to collect real Christmas trees from homes and businesses in Swindon and the surrounding area for the first time, in return for a donation.

Imagine Cruising, based in Royal Wootton Bassett, has also supported Prospect Hospice’s Christmas tree collection by making a financial donation.

As well as supporting the hospice to deliver outstanding care to terminally ill patients and their loved ones, the collection of Christmas trees will benefit the environment as the trees will be recycled into chippings and used locally.

Volunteers will be collecting and recycling Christmas trees from the following areas on Saturday, 8 January and Sunday, 9 January 2022:

  • SN1
  • SN2
  • SN3
  • SN4
  • SN5
  • SN6 6
  • SN6 7
  • SN25 1
  • SN25 2
  • SN25 3
  • SN25 4

Bookings are currently being taken now. Members of the public can arrange a collection by visiting www.prospect-hospice.net/treecollection and booking before noon on 4 January 2022.

Sheryl Crouch, head of income at Prospect Hospice, said: “We wish everyone in our community a peaceful and happy Christmas and thank them for all their support over the last year.

“If you’re celebrating Christmas with a real Christmas tree this year and wondering what you will do with it when the festive period is over, we can collect and recycle it. All we ask for in return is a donation to help us care for patients and support their families.

“We’re really pleased to be able to offer residents and businesses the opportunity to have their real Christmas trees collected and recycled. It’s a simple way to support the hospice and, because of you, patients in our community will receive care tailored to their needs.”

The Prospect Hospice are also appealing for people who would like to volunteer with the collection of Christmas trees on the weekend of 8 and 9 January 2022.
