Christmas Care are requesting food donations ahead of the festive period.

People in Swindon facing homelessness, hunger or isolation this Christmas will be given a lifeline, thanks to a charity which is offering support over the festive period. Since 1988, Christmas Care Swindon has been running a drop-in day centre, providing food and friendships to thousands of people.

This year, Christmas Care Swindon will run from The Haven Day Centre, in Queen's Drive, from Christmas Eve until December 29, opening from 9am to 5.30pm (closing at 3pm on the 29).

Volunteers will provide a full English breakfast, a hot home-cooked lunch and an early evening snack. In between, hot drinks, chat, companionship and festive cheer will be in full flow.

The charity specifically need meat, cheese and fresh vegetables for the hot dinners, breakfast items such as sausages, bacon, hash browns, eggs, mushrooms, tinned tomatoes.

They also need donations of tinned, dried, long-life food or fresh food so they can stock the kitchen. There is one donation day left this year, where food can be dropped off at The Haven (next to the ambulance station): on Sunday 21 December 10am-2pm.

The Haven Day Centre is in Queen’s Drive, Swindon SN3 1AR. Guests can call in and there is no need to book ahead. For more information about Christmas Care Swindon, and how to make a donation visit https://www.christmascareswindon.org.uk/
