Breast Cancer Now’s new Night in the Wild fundraising adventure is coming to the Lake District and the High Weald - and all are welcome to take part.
Breast Cancer Now clinical nurse specialist Katy Goford is encouraging people to sign up for the events, in which fundraisers together with friends and expert helpers will build their own shelter and spend a wild night in nature without any of their home comforts.
These two new events are taking place on the shores of Buttermere in the Lake District on 7-8 June, and surrounded by breathtaking views over the High Weald in East Sussex on 28-29 June.
Participants are promised outstanding nature, with the option to join a group swim (in the Lake District) and the chance to connect with like-minded women around a campfire.
Katy said: "Spending a night outside under the stars will be an unforgettable experience and powerful things happen when women get together – and we’ll be there to help you every step of the way."
The charity is reminding everybody that every 10 minutes somebody is told they have breast cancer and, as part of Katy's work as a nurse on Breast Cancer Now’s helpline, she gives anyone affected by breast cancer the vital space they need, to ask questions and talk through their concerns.
No matter whether the caller is someone worried about a breast change, someone who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer or whether they are a family member looking for support, Breast Cancer Now's free specialist-support and written information is here for them.
Katy said: "By taking part in Night in the Wild, you will raise funds to ensure that Breast Cancer Now’s support is here for anyone affected by breast cancer, every step of the way.
"You will also help us to continue our world-class research to develop better treatments, prevent and diagnose breast cancer early, and improve people’s quality of life," said Katy Goford.
