McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon is hosting its fourth Handbag Amnesty to raise vital funds for the Great Western Hospital Charity, Brighter Futures. The popular in-centre initiative provides a new home to pre-loved handbags and has raised over £5,000 to date.

From Friday 21st February – Thursday 5th March guests are encouraged to donate bags, everything from totes, cross-bodies, clutches and satchels to raise funds for the Swindon-based charity. In return for handbag donations to Guest Services – located at the north entrance – guests will receive a Fashion Passport, offering them an additional 10 percent off in participating stores.

On Saturday 7th – Sunday 8th March 2020, Brighter Futures will host a special weekend pop-up shop at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon. Here, shoppers can browse and purchase an array of pre-loved handbags, with all proceeds donated to the charity.

Alongside this, guests can purchase a £1 raffle ticket from the pop-up store to be in with the chance of winning a luxury bag from Osprey, Radley, Paul Costelloe, Joules and Fiorelli, with all ticket sales being donated to the cause.

British designer handbag brand, Radley is also supporting the initiative and is inviting guests to donate pre-loved Radley bags in return for an additional 20 per cent discount in store, redeemable from Saturday 7th March – Sunday 5th April 2020 - a great incentive for Radley customers to update their collection.

Centre Manager, Tina Cumpstey comments:To date, we have raised over £5,000 since starting the initiative in 2018. We are thrilled to welcome the campaign back to the centre for the fourth time and are dedicated to supporting the local community while raising awareness of Brighter Futures’ important work.”

Brighter Futures is the hospital charity of the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, focusing on funding that extra special level of care in order to make a real difference to patients, their families and the staff who treat them. The charity improves the hospital environment, funds ground-breaking research, supports the development and training of hospital staff, and provides state-of-the-art equipment.

Michelle Leighton, Community and Events Fundraising Manager at Great Western Hospitals said: “We are so excited to once again be working with the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon on the Handbag Amnesty. This is a really good event which raises funds to improve the services and care we provide to the residents of Swindon and further afield who visit our hospital.”
