Heritage charity the Friends of Lydiard Park has wished all supporters and helpers the compliments of the season.

It is also asking people to keep a lookout for Lydiard-related treasures in the attic when putting away their Christmas decorations.

The Lydiard Archives always welcome new material, and are always open online.

The archives are a unique digital collection, documenting the thousand-year history of Lydiard House and Park.

Created by volunteers with a passion for preservation and accessibility, the collection is managed by The Friends of Lydiard Park, the independent charity formed to protect, conserve and educate people about this beautiful historic estate with its Palladian house, ancient church, walled garden, and rolling parkland.

A spokesperson said: "As the year comes to a close, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you—our virtual visitors, correspondents, and generous donors—who have made 2024 such an exciting and rewarding year for The Lydiard Archives.

"The enthusiastic support we’ve received from the Lydiard Tregoze community and visitors around the world especially delighted us. Your emails, fascinating contributions, and visits to our events and with our archivists have enriched our collections and deepened our understanding of the remarkable history of Lydiard Park, the Parish of Lydiard Tregoze, its families, and its community.

"We’ve been privileged to discover and share so many treasures with you, and your enthusiasm for our work has been truly inspiring. Now, we’re just taking a short winter break to dust the shelves, rearrange the contents, and catalogue the wonderful new finds you’ll hear about in the new year.

"We wish you a joyful and healthy holiday season and encourage you to keep an eye out for Lydiard-related treasures in your attic while putting away decorations!"

The spokesperson added: "Remember, The Lydiard Archives are always open online, so do enjoy some holiday browsing during the break. We look forward to resuming our bulletins on February 15th, refreshed and ready to share more incredible stories from the past."
