Volunteers are being sought to help make a difference to young people’s lives.

Pupils at Swindon Academy have spent four days working with the Grit charity as part of their ‘coaching for success’ course. It is aimed at supporting young people in achieving their full potential.  The young people participate in a 4-day personal development workshop and then regular, one-to-one coaching sessions for up to six months.

The charity is now reaching out to Swindon’s business community to encourage volunteer coaches to work with the youngsters on the course for about 6 months to help  them make the changes they want to.

Anyone interested in finding out more can sign up to a coaches training session on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th Feb 9am - 6pm at Swindon Academy

You will then meet the small group of pupils you will be supporting and set up coaching sessions with your group (either as a group or individually) - these can be weekly or fortnightly and usually last around 30 – 45 minutes. Timings of these sessions can be flexible but they often take place before school, during the school lunch break, at specified times during the day or straight after school finishes.

For more details contact Sumeya via email: [email protected] or call 07787 296193.

You will be asked to fill out a DBS application before you start coaching and will shortly receive a confirmation letter giving you full details of the programme you will be coaching in and all important dates.
