Great Western Academy chiefs say they are very proud of the excellent outcomes students have achieved in their GCSEs.
The hard work they and their teachers have put in has led to almost 70% of students gaining grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, and nearly half achieving a grade 5 or above in both subjects - so important for their next steps.
A spokesperson said: "An amazing 85% of students passed either English or Maths with grade 4 or above, and three quarters gained at least a grade 5 in English or Maths.
"Internal figures show the progress students have made since year 7 is very strong. This are our fourth set of GCSE results after the school’s opening in 2018."
A total of 11 students gained at least five grade 8’s or above: Lauren (who gained 9!), Sophie (8), Jovita-Dron (8), Callum (8), Barnaby (7), Lily (7), Phoebe (7), Miguel (6), Amed (6), Maya (5) and Oliver (5).
Principal David Clarke said “I am absolutely delighted for this incredible group of students, not only those achieving the exceptional grade 8 and 9 outcomes, but for so many who have made excellent progress at GWA.
"This is down to the hard work of the students and the dedicated support of our excellent staff. Combined with our A-level results last week, these outcomes reaffirm that GWA is a school where students flourish and achieve more than they first thought possible.
"We look forward to welcoming most of our Year 11 students back into Sixth Form here at GWA and wish the entire year group all the very best in their next steps.”
Applications to GWA Sixth Form remain open to any student receiving their GCSE results, and they are asked to contact [email protected] for more details.
