For over five years, the National Trust team at Avebury have been hosting an autumn sculpture exhibition in the Manor's garden.

The sculpture exhibition at Avebury will run from Saturday 3 September to Sunday 9 October, from 10am-5pm and is free with entry to the garden.

With its many different rooms, vistas and hideaways, the garden is deemed perfectly suited to showcasing artworks - whether that’s a large kinetic sculpture of moving branches and leaves, or a small bronze rabbit scurrying across the lawn.

National Trust exhibition organiser, Hazel Barry-Scott said: "The sculpture exhibition is one of my favourite events of the year. It’s so wonderful to see the garden full of artworks and it really encourages visitors to look at their surroundings in new and different ways."

For the first time since these exhibitions have been running, there will also be a weekly ‘artist in the garden’ event.

Each week, one of the exhibiting artists will be in residence at Avebury to demonstrate their work and chat to visitors.

One such artist, Val Adamson, will be exhibiting her triptychs of bronze heads.

Val said: "I love the process of exploring people’s faces through clay and I often use a study as inspiration for further pieces. I used the African head studies to create a second tryptic of more stylised heads, both of which can be seen at Avebury this year."

Another artist, Kay Singla, who has been exhibiting at Avebury since the first show in 2016, said: "I can’t wait to be in the beautiful, peaceful gardens at Avebury again. Blessed am I to be showing my work here."
