Christ Church in Old Town will officially launch this year’s Swindon Churches Green Festival with a vibrant Eco Fair & Summer Fete on Saturday 6 June from 11am to 3pm.

Held in the church grounds in Old Town Swindon, the free community event will bring together families, local organisations, and environmentally-minded residents for a day focused on sustainability, nature, and fun community activities.

As a proud A Rocha Gold Award Eco Church, Christ Church continues its commitment to environmental action through this year’s festival theme: “Rooted in Faith – Growing a Greener Future.”

Visitors to the Eco Fair & Summer Fete can enjoy a wide range of attractions including eco-stalls, plant sales, local wildlife organisations, and a Churchyard Wildlife Count designed to help people engage with and learn more about the local environment.

Alongside the environmental activities, the event will feature traditional summer fete entertainment including a bouncy castle, games, face painting, eco-crafts for children, and a variety of community stalls. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day, including hot and cold food, the church café, and a cider bar.

Dog owners are also encouraged to bring their pets along to enjoy the event’s “Try Out” dog agility course.

The Christ Church Eco Fair & Summer Fete marks the beginning of the wider Swindon Churches Green Festival, a collaborative initiative involving churches and faith groups across Swindon.

Running from 6 to 14 June, the week-long programme aims to unite the community through environmental awareness, sustainability, and practical ecological action.

The festival will include workshops, educational events, family activities, and community gatherings across Swindon, all designed to encourage greener living and celebrate the natural beauty of the local area.

A festival spokesperson said: “This festival is an invitation to everyone in Swindon - regardless of background - to join us in exploring how we can better care for our common home.

”Entry to the Christ Church Eco Fair & Summer Fete is free, with small charges applying to some activities."
