South Swindon Parish Council is to host tours of the Town Gardens on Sunday 12 May.

The park dates from the Victorian period and is perhaps best known for its picturesque traditional bandstand and the Art Deco Town Gardens Bowl which, unlike similar structures elsewhere in the country which have long since been demolished, is a thriving venue for music and theatre.
Another much-loved feature is the aviary, which was recently given a thorough makeover, and the nearby fish pond.
The 12 May tours, marking the 130th anniversary of the gardens, will be guided by a local heritage expert, enabling participants to explore the Victorian origins of the Town Gardens, learn about their design and development over the decades and discover fascinating little-known facts along the way.
There are four heritage tours available - noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Places can be booked here.
