Swindon’s Old Town Christmas Festival is set to return on Sunday 23 November.

Revellers are promised an afternoon of festive fun, live music and community spirit.

Running from noon to 6pm, the event will once again transform Wood Street and Victoria Road into a winter wonderland filled with lights, stalls and entertainment.

Headlining this year’s festival is Swindon-born singer-songwriter Josh Kumra, who rose to fame after co-writing and providing vocals on Wretch 32’s UK number one hit, Don’t Go. His return to Old Town is expected to be a special highlight for local fans.

Visitors can expect a full programme of entertainment, including live performances from community groups such as the Pauline Quirke Academy Swindon who celebrate their 10th anniversary this year, dancers from JP Studios including tap dancing world championship medal winner Gabe Hyde, dancers from South Asian Performing Arts Centre, pop and musical theatre singer Fran Daisy, The Croft Primary School, Country Rock and pop singer Andrew Grindrod, the Abbey Park Dance Academy and JHS Dance.

James Mcdonald, Vice-Chairman of the Old Town Business Association, said: “At the heart of the Old Town Christmas Festival is the ethos of community, family, and celebration. Local businesses and residents come together for an amazing festive experience that has become a cornerstone of Swindon’s Christmas season.”

Kris Talikowski, Chairman of the Association added: “If the event keeps growing at this pace, we’ll have to find a way to expand beyond Victoria Road.

"Early discussions with Councillor Chris Watts, Cabinet Member for the Environment and Transport, are already exploring how we could make that possible in future years.”

The Christmas Festival will feature street food and seasonal drinks including mulled wine and hot chocolate alongside gifts, crafts and festive treats from local traders. A fun fair provided by Steven Hill will also return to Wood Street.

The event is organised by the Old Town Business Association (OTBA) in partnership with South Swindon Parish Council, supported by sponsors including Los Gatos, Deacons, Domino’s Old Town, Charles Harding, The Kings and Sinewave.

Both Wood Street and Victoria Road in Old Town will be closed to traffic throughout the day, creating a pedestrian-friendly environment for families to enjoy the celebrations safely.

A voluntary ticket donation of £1.85 per person or £2 on the door is requested to help fund the event and support its future.

Visitors are recommended to arrive early as the event has a maximum capacity of 4,200, and once close to capacity, only people with tickets will be allowed entry.
