South Swindon Parish Council have announced the official reopening of the renovated Buckhurst Skatepark.

The £155,830 transformation has been designed to accommodate skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter enthusiasts, and rollerbladers of all skill levels.
To celebrate the reopening, the skatepark will be a part of the upcoming Buckhurst Youth Festival on Saturday 24 May. Local skate shop ATBShop will host a special workshop from 10am to 1pm, offering free skating lessons, demonstrations, and safety tips for young people interested in extreme sports.
ATBShop has also committed to conducting additional workshops later this year on Saturday, 23 August and Saturday 25 October.
The skatepark renovation is but one component of the comprehensive Buckhurst Field Improvement Programme, which has been underway since early 2024.
Other completed projects include a refurbished play area, regenerated grass football pitches and a new sports pavilion. Work to redevelop the Multi-Use-Games-Area into a ‘PlayZone’ will start in late June.
Cllr Trish Philpot, South Swindon Parish Councillor for Park North & Walcot said: “We’re proud to deliver a facility that provides a space for people to skate, have fun and make new friends. We’ve been really impressed with the contractors work and professionalism.
"Thank you to Sarah Harris for painting the brilliant mural on the skatepark. It has been fantastic to see the facility so well used over the opening weekend.”
