A Wroughton barber is offering free haircuts to men living in Wroughton care homes and refugees from Ukraine.
Ugur Dertlicoban, who lives in Old Town, is originally from Istanbul and moved to Swindon four years ago
He said: “ I really enjoy living and working in the Swindon/Wroughton area and just want to put a little bit back into my local community . I am offering free haircuts to men living in Wroughton care homes and to refugeee visitors from Ukraine."
He recently visited the Orchard Care Home in Wroughton and hopes to be cutting the hair of men living there soon.
One of Mr Dertlicoban's regular customers at his High Street shop is Mike Bowden, who chairs Ukrainian aid organisation the Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership.
Mr Bowden said: “I was sitting having my hair cut minding my own business when Ugur told me he wanted to offer some free haircuts.
"It’s a kind and generous offer and reminds us that if we were all to do a little bit to help others the world would be a better place.“
Mr Dertlicoban added: “Swindon is my home and has been very good to me and my family. My three children have all been fortunate to attend excellent schools in the town and have many lovely friends.
"We all enjoy the many parks and green spaces that make living in Swindon such a pleasure."
