Newland Homes’ Broad Blunsdon Heights development has been shortlisted as a finalist for Best New Housing Development in the prestigious West of England LABC Building Excellence Awards for 2019.
The 57-home development in the village of Broad Blunsdon on the outskirts of Swindon is a stand-out development of high quality and well-appointed family homes. Building work commenced in 2017 and the site was completed last year.
The Building Excellence Awards are organised by the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) to showcase projects where design teams have applied innovative and creative solutions to complex technical or construction issues, leading to safe, sustainable and high quality development projects.

This latest recognition adds to the expanding trophy collection for Broad Blunsdon Heights, which also received Best New Large Housing Development in Swindon Borough Council’s Building Excellence Awards earlier this year. Newland Homes was praised for its organisation and communication with the Council’s team, as well as for the design and quality of the homes; particularly the use of broad, modern grey-framed windows to allow light to flood into the homes and the large frontages and driveways of the properties.
Jeremy continues: “This was a challenging site due to the proximity of the A419 Blunsdon Bypass. We had to think creatively about acoustic insulation which was efficient but also aesthetically pleasing. Over the last 18 years we have nurtured a collaborative relationship with the Council’s building control team to help overcome any issues and create homes which we can all be proud of.”
