A woman who was caught drink driving less than 24 hours after being disqualified from driving for an identical offence has been sentenced.
On Wednesday, Ellie Watson was disqualified from driving for two years after being caught drink driving in April.
Less than 24 hours later she was caught by PC Head in Ocotal Way, Swindon, behind the wheel again having consumed a bottle of wine.
Watson blew 109 at the roadside, and then 95 in custody after being arrested – considerably above the drink drive limit of 35.
She was subsequently charged with drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance, and remanded into custody ahead of the hearing.
In a hearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court, Watson, 27, of Church Walk North, Swindon, was sentenced to eight weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
She was disqualified from driving for 42 months, and given a 12-month community order, including 15 RAR days.
PC Head from the Dogs Section said: “Watson’s actions are absolutely appalling and show absolutely no consideration or respect for other road users.
“Drink driving can and does kill and to be caught almost immediately after being disqualified for an identical previous offence is completely unacceptable.
“She is now disqualified from driving for the next three and a half years, and if she is caught again then she is liable to be sent to prison.”
