Construction work has started on Great Western Hospital's urgent and emergency care development, which will see an expanded Emergency Department, and relocation of a number of other services, including assessment units, to create an improved and more joined-up service.

As part of the design process, GWH wants to collect ideas from patients, families and other local people about how they can make the new service environments better.
A spokesperson said: "We will try to respond directly to your needs, wishes and preferences to ensure the building supports every patient's wellbeing and allows us to provide excellent service delivery.
"If you have used the Emergency Department or are the parent or guardian of a child who has used the Children's Emergency Department in the last 12 months, please spare a few minutes to complete the following survey: https://gwh.formstack.com/forms/uec_services_patient_2023"
