Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) has announced that the five men arrested over suspected terror offences near RAF Fairford are all British nationals in their 20s and live in London.
The men were detained early yesterday - Sunday 27 September - near the base, which is used by American aircraft as a location from which to strike Iran, and which has been declared a legitimate target by the Teheran regime.
They were arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to the Explosives Act, and on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act, and a number of white vans were subsequently examined by specialist Army personnel.
Gloucestershire Constabulary evacuated residents from a number of properties in the Whelford area following the declaration of a major incident.
