Local elections are taking place on Thursday 7 May, with all 57 Swindon Borough Council seats up for election alongside parish council seats.

It’s the first time since 2012 that every Borough Council seat has been contested at the same time. The results will determine how Swindon Borough Council is run for the next four years.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on the day.

If you’re planning to vote, here are a few key things to know:

  • photo ID is required to vote in person (such as a passport or driving licence, including provisional)
  • you don’t need your poll card to vote, but it will tell you where your polling station is
  • if you’re registered but haven’t received a poll card, you can still vote as normal

If you’re voting by post, make sure your completed ballot is returned in good time by post, or handed in at a polling station before polls close.

Following a review by the Local Government Boundary Commission in 2023 to 2025, there are now 25 electoral wards in Swindon. As a result of the review, the boundaries of 24 wards changed, and one stayed the same.

There are 10 three-councillor wards, 12 two-councillor wards and three single-councillor wards. View the breakdown of councillors per ward here (PDF) along with a boundary map.
