Growing South Swindon Community gardening group hosted their first community gardening session at the Westcott Allotments last weekend.

The gardening group held its inaugural session on Saturday 14 January, from 12pm - 2pm.

The community allotment plot at Westcott Allotments is said to be providing a base for the Cambria Bridge volunteers with the charity Blooming Smiles.

The group are working on getting the plot into shape, so that they can eventually grow plants to take out in to the community, store their tools, and offer a space for gardening volunteers to gather and share ideas.

A spokesperson for the group said: "We cleared a lot of the site thanks to the hard working people who came down. We took some before, during, and after photos but you can’t really see the extent of the improvements made."
