More than 1,000 households in Swindon received help with essential living costs including food, energy bills and household items, between April and December last year, amounting to £186,000 in support.
Many residents are currently struggling with rising food, energy, fuel and other living costs. This is why it is important to know what help and support is available that could benefit you, a relative, friend or neighbour.
The Government has announced that the Household Support Fund will be extended to cover the period between April 2025 and the end of March 2026 to help households with the cost of food, energy and wider essentials.
A number of community venues across Swindon, known as Welcome Spaces, are available to residents to spend time, stay warm and feel safe through the winter period and beyond. Check the list and opening times.
Residents who are struggling with essential household costs can still access support. Apply online to the Household Support Fund, call 01793 445500 or visit one of Swindon’s core libraries for in-person assistance. Swindon Borough Council’s website also lists a wide range of advice and information to help manage living costs.
