Cllr Gary Sumner's visit, coming as Swindon continues to attract significant investment and strengthen its position as a hub for business growth, saw him discuss the issue.
Workplace design and fit-out specialist Kerr Office Group, which delivers projects across the UK, has been based in Swindon for nine years, employing over 20 people, and has established itself as a key partner for organisations looking to create modern, high-performing workspaces.
During the visit, Cllr Sumner met with founder Jonathan Kerr and Chief Executive Officer Alex Kerr to discuss Swindon’s economic development ambitions, priority growth sectors, business support initiatives across the borough and the strategic direction set out in the council’s Economic Growth Plan.
The discussions highlighted the important role local businesses and supply chains play in attracting and supporting inward investment.
Councillor Sumner said: “It was a pleasure to visit Kerr Office Group and see first-hand how a successful Swindon business is helping other organisations grow and invest in our borough.
“We had very productive discussions about our Economic Growth Plan, the opportunities within our priority growth sectors and how the council can continue to support businesses looking to expand and succeed in Swindon.
“Swindon is a fantastic place to do business. By working closely with ambitious local companies such as Kerr Office Group, we can help ensure that new investment delivers lasting economic benefits, creates high-quality jobs and strengthens our local economy for the future.”
Kerr Office Group is currently delivering several major workplace transformation projects connected to high-profile business growth in Swindon, including work for defence technology provider Stark Defence and the forthcoming expansion of Callaway Golf’s local operations in South Marston.
The council continues to work closely with businesses of all sizes to attract investment, support the creation of high-value employment opportunities and create the conditions for sustainable economic growth across the borough.
Alex Kerr, Chief Executive Officer of Kerr Office Group, said: “Swindon has been an excellent base for our business, offering the connectivity, skilled workforce and commercial opportunities needed to support our continued growth.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Cllr Sumner to our offices and discuss the exciting opportunities available to businesses looking to invest and expand in the town.
“We see first-hand the confidence that organisations have in Swindon as a place to establish and grow their operations, and we are proud to play our part in supporting that growth and helping more businesses make Swindon their home.”
