Swindon's Link Centre is likely to remain closed for at least a fortnight due to flooding.
An update on the status of the centre, home to the Swindon Wildcats ice hockey team and extensive public sports and leisure facilities, was issued by GLL, which runs the venue.
The Link Centre was closed following heavy rain in the early hours of yesterday - Monday 18 September - which sent flood water into the building, notably the equipment room, and shut off power.
A spokesperson for GLL said: “Over the past 24hrs we have been able to pump the flood water from the building, however, there remains no power to the Link Centre. Specialist electrical contractors have been onsite all day today - 19 September - assessing the situation.
"Based on their feedback, at this time our best estimate is that we expect the Link Centre to remain closed for at least two weeks. This is in order to restore full power to the centre and undertake the remedial works that are necessary. However, this is an evolving situation and timelines may change.
“We would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this time. All Better Health members at the Link Centre will automatically be given access to Better leisure centres across Swindon.
"For members unable to visit alternative centres and customers attending a lesson or course, their accounts will be credited.
“We will continue to update our website and social media channels and communicate directly with our customers as more information becomes available.”
