Live Well's next volunteer recruitment session on Wednesday 28 February at Swindon Central Library from 2-4pm.
The Swindon Borough Council team are behind a broad range of activities aimed at improving community wellbeing.
One initiative, Local Heroes, is a flexible way to volunteer, supporting residents with one-off tasks when they have no friends, family or resources to help them.
Volunteer tasks can include light gardening, reading mail, giving lifts to appointments or walking a dog when someone recovers from an operation.
Recently, Local Heroes, Paul and Joy, pictured, have been taking care of two chihuahuas while their elderly owner is in hospital.
A Live Well spokesperson said: "Paul and Joy’s kindness and ability to accommodate these two little pups has taken a weight off their owner’s mind, knowing her fur babies are being well looked after.
"Other Live Well volunteering opportunities include Swindon Circles befriending, baking birthday cakes for more isolated residents, knitting and crocheting items for those in most need, becoming a Cancer Champion, and helping to facilitate accessible cycling sessions."
