People who love to sing and always wondered what being in a choir is like have a chance to find out.
The new no-audition North Swindon Good Afternoon Choir holds its first meeting on Thursday, 8 September from 1pm to 3pm at St John’s Haydon Wick.
A warm welcome is promised to anybody who goes along to find out more.
The group is latest in the series of Good Afternoon choirs founded over the last 12 years by Bath-based Swindonian Grenville Jones, and there are now 24 across the West of England.
North Swindon Good Afternoon Choir leader Sarah Summers has been leading community choirs for four years, having previously taught music in primary schools, and has also worked with piano students throughout her adult life.
Grenville Jones said: “Come along and meet the North Swindon Good Afternoon Choir on a Thursday afternoon from 1pm at St John’s Haydon Wick with Sarah. There’s no charge for attending your first rehearsal and bring a friend!
“Choirs are great for meeting new friends and enjoying the best hobby in the world!”
The Good Afternoon Choirs sing popular melodies in harmony and each choir raises money for a local charity selected by the members.
Since returning to singing in October, following lockdown, the choirs have already raised over £13,000 for various local organisations across the region.
