A Peppa Pig book giveaway for Swindon will be held on Tuesday, 1 June.

Set to run from 11am to 2.30pm, it is being planned by Swindon Stories in partnership with InSwindon for families and carers of children aged up to five.

The giveaway forms part of the Hungry Little Minds campaign from the National Literacy Trust, funded by the Department of Education.

With the lockdown restrictions easing, the Swindon Stories team are delighted to be visiting Swindon’s town centre to host the session.

Anish Harrison, Hub Manager for Swindon Stories, said: “We are thrilled to be able to resume giving away free books and packs to families in Swindon.

"A lot has been happening since the start of lockdown, with Swindon Stories online, and via our partners.

"Now it’s time to connect with families directly to promote our key messages, that chatting, playing and reading with your little one is one of the best things you can do for them!”

The team will be by the Debenhams building in the town centre.

Lynn Turner of Hungry Little Minds in Swindon said: “Engaging directly with families and children is so important to us, particularly as lockdown restrictions have prevented this for such a long period of time.

"We hope that this opportunity to give away resources which promote chatting, playing and reading will encourage parents and carers to enjoy doing exactly that with their little ones.”

Alongside a large batch of Peppa Pig books, the team will also giving away activity packs full of early years resources and further information about Swindon’s library services.

This event forms part of the Hungry Little Minds campaign which provides families of children under five with simple and fun activities to help build their child’s speech and language skills at home.

The campaign aims to reach as many families, carers and early years settings as possible, ensuring that every child across the county has access to free and fun chat, play and read resources.
