A vibrant and spiritually uplifting celebration was held at Venue 3 in Regent Circus as the Baba Lokenath Foundation Swindon hosted a grand observance of Baba Lokenath Thirodhan Dibosh.
The event, marking the divine yogi’s passing from his earthly life, drew over 100 devotees, with Mayor of Swindon Cllr Fay Howard attending as Chief Guest.
The Mayor applauded the Bengali community’s efforts in promoting peace, inclusiveness, and spiritual heritage within the wider Swindon community.
The celebration featured traditional rituals, devotional music, cultural activities, and spiritual reflections that echoed Baba Lokenath’s timeless teachings of compassion, unity, and self-realisation.
Sumon Roy, Founder of Baba Lokenath Foundation Swindon, addressed the gathering with a heartfelt message: “Baba Lokenath’s life teaches us not only to seek the divine but also to serve humanity.
"As a community, we must go beyond rituals and engage in charitable work — supporting food banks, helping the vulnerable, and motivating our children through cultural and spiritual guidance.”
Rajib Malakar, Membership Secretary of the Foundation, echoed this vision, saying: “Our mission should be to bring people together, inspire kindness, and give back to society.
"Through events like this and community projects such as culture rallies and youth engagement, we hope to carry forward Baba Lokenath’s legacy in action, not just in words.”
The event concluded with a community meal (prasad) served to all attendees, symbolising equality and shared humanity — core values of Baba Lokenath’s teachings.
This year marked the eighth consecutive year that Swindon has celebrated this sacred occasion, and the organisers hope it continues to grow as a beacon of faith, cultural pride, and community service.
