Man pleads not guilty to murder of Jimmy Ward in Calcutt shooting

A man has pleaded not guilty to murder following a fatal shooting at a traveller site in Calcutt on 2 August.

Shane Porter, 35, of Calcutt Park, Calcutt, appeared at Bristol Crown Court today, charged with the murder of Jimmy Ward, aged 36, and possession of a shotgun without a certificate.

He denied the offences and was remanded into custody.

Eddie Porter, 74, and Tammy Brown, 42, both of Luton, also appeared in court, where they pleaded not guilty to assisting an offender and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. Eddie Porter was remanded into custody and Brown was released on conditional bail.

A trial date has been set for 1 February.
