All are welcome at The Ink's free community talk by Swindon 105.5 station manager Shirley Ludford this evening - 18 March.
The venue will be upstairs at The Hop Inn in Devizes Road, Swindon, and the talk will begin at 7.30pm.
Shirley has long been a household name in and around Swindon thanks to a broadcasting career spanning commercial, BBC and community radio.
She is also known for a longstanding commitment to community life which has seen her receive many accolades and be appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire.
She said: "I'll be telling the story behind setting up a radio station, especially if it's a community-led radio station, which brings a lot of opportunities as well as difficulties.
"We're 16 years old this month, so it's an anniversary talk.
"From the beginnings in a pub in Queens Drive - The Bulldog - which is no longer there, to Swindon Town Football Club to the Bentley Centre in Stratton Road to where we are today in Liden. Being a station that's fully accessible and inclusive, that means the premises that we have to find need to meet quite a wide range of needs.
"We've had a lot of help along the way.”
The core philosophy of Swindon 105.5 is to provide programmes for the whole community made by people from a diverse array of backgrounds throughout that community, and Shirley is as passionate an advocate of community radio as one could hope to meet.
Shirley said: “It provides a service that's not met by any other media. It provides opportunities, unique opportunities."
