Enchanted Gardens Light Trail Recap
The end of December marked the end to the Enchanted Gardens Light Trail taking place in the Town Gardens. In the end nearly 28,000 people attended the event, raising £24,952 for Brighter Futures- the charity partner for this event.
When we decided to organise this family event, we wanted to bring Christmas cheer and raise money for our doctors and nurses at the GWH through the Brighter Futures charity. We are delighted to have been able to achieve both.
The Parish Council hope to organise the return of the Light Trail later this year, as well as the return of Theatre at the Bowl and upcoming music events in the summer. For more information follow the Parish Council on Facebook and our website.
South Swindon Volunteer Day – 26 March
Volunteering is such a crucial part of making our communities what they are. On March 26th the Parish Council plans to celebrate the volunteering done inside our Parish by organising the South Swindon Volunteering Day at Twigs in Cheney Manor.
On the day we want to bring our volunteers and voluntary groups together and harness their energy in to a common good, making our Parish the best it can be. If you are interested in finding out more email [email protected]
Chief Executive of Parish Council
In December Parish Councillors wished farewell to outgoing Chief Executive, Rob Core, who is retiring after 3 years of leading the Council.
Rob has worked in local government all his life- working for Thamesdown Borough Council, the forerunner to Swindon Borough Council, 35 years ago.
Rob oversaw huge growth in the Parish Council, with the Parish starting to deliver grounds maintenance, street cleaning, a youth service, an events service and more. He will be greatly missed. Jake Mee has been recruited as the new Parish Chief Executive. Jake was previously the Chief Finance Officer for the Parish Council.
