A Wroughton woman has been jailed for multiple thefts in Swindon's town centre.

Kerry Thirkettle, 46, of Wharf Road, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and fraud by false representation.

She was also wanted on warrant for non-compliance with a previous community order.

Thirkettle was sentenced to 33 weeks' imprisonment.

PC Paul Bezzant said: “Officers detained Thirkettle in Swindon town centre yesterday afternoon - 10 September - after she was seen acting suspiciously and a search was conducted.

“She was found in possession of stolen toys and clothing and had been using a family members details to purchase clothes online. She was remanded in custody and put before the courts today.

“Thirkettle is a prolific offender and I am pleased a custodial sentence has been handed to her.

"She has continued to show a total disregard for the law, for people and their property which is evidenced in her reoffending and failure to comply with a community order.”
