Refusing to be beaten by coronavirus, they have announced a programme of online events from Friday to Sunday, 7-9 August, which coincides with the original August 8 Pride date.

People are also being encouraged to celebrate Pride in their own way with garden parties.

Swindon & Wiltshire Pride chair Jo Sharpe said: "The last five months have been extremely challenging for everyone. We have, been trying to give back to the community in a way that was fun, interactive and easily accessible.

"Our online events have been really successful - these helped make it possible for us to do something special for our original planned Pride date of August 8th.”

During this year's event, Swindon & Wiltshire Pride will be fundraising for next year's.

Jo added: “We are so lucky to have the support of local bands and artists over the last few months, so are happy that The Bimbos will be joining us on the Friday night.

"We also have our own performers The Fabulous Miss Bridy & The 2 Notes, as well as Miss Lucy Luscious Lips appearing on the Sunday.“

“We are encouraging people to host a Pride garden party on the Saturday, whilst we provide a live performance from the amazing vocalist Camilla Lewington from our Facebook page.

"There will also be a performance from our Great Auntie Agnus, and a video on our Facebook in celebration of Pride, as well as a few little surprises. You will be able to find out the complete weekend schedule on our website.

“We wanted to say a big thank you to all of those who have been supporting us and Swindon Food Collective over the last few months, in helping us raise money and donations for Swindon Food Collective. We wanted to especially thank the musicians, performers, and our committee for all their time, efforts and support.

"We also wanted to thank our main sponsor, Nationwide Building Society, for committing to sponsoring us through to 2021. We hope you can raise a glass on Saturday 8 August, and join us for our online Pride celebrations!”
