A former councillor has admitted a series of sexual offences including multiple rapes against his then wife over 13 years.

As reported by the BBC, the charges to which Philip Young, 49, pleaded guilty also included administering a substance with intent to stupefy and voyeurism.

Formerly of Swindon but now of Amberley Road in Enfield, Young denied eight counts related to making and possessing indecent images of children and possessing extreme images.

Last month he appeared in court charged with a total 56 offences. Young's victim, Joanne Young, has waived her right to anonymity.

Five other men were accused of various sexual offences against Joanne Young.
