Staff at Trees Day Care Nursery are celebrating after receiving a good rating from Ofsted inspectors.
Following an inspection of the Quarry Road nursery on 22 October, the Ofsted team concluded that setting was good in all four key areas that they examined: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
Inspectors singled out the positive relationship between staff and children at the nursery: “Children form good attachments with staff, who know the children's individual interests and needs well.”
And it was noted that staff support the children well during their play and encourage their language development effectively.
Communications with parents was also praised, with inspectors reporting that parents receive regular information about their children's care and education. They say that staff are friendly and approachable and are always willing to talk to them and offer advice.
It was found that staff are ‘good role models to the children and check the children's progress regularly and identify any areas where children need additional support.’
Inspectors said that although managers meet regularly with staff to offer coaching and training - more could be done to make full use of these opportunities to help monitor staff performance and identify ways to raise the quality of teaching to the highest level.
To further improve the quality of early years provision, inspectors recommended that the nursery should: “improve coaching and supervision of staff to focus more precisely on raising the quality of teaching to the highest level” and “offer children more opportunities to test their ideas and solve simple problems for themselves.”
