Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses following a road traffic collision in North Swindon.

At approximately 12.30pm on 18 September, a collision took place on Thamesdown Drive near to the Ashbrake junction involving a Ducati Panigale motorcycle and a Ford Mondeo.

The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old from Swindon, sustained several broken bones as a result of the collision, including a broken collar bone and broken ribs, and was taken to Southmead Hospital where he currently remains.

Police are keen to speak with another motorcyclist and pillion passenger who are believed to have stopped at the scene and approached the injured rider, but then left without speaking to officers.

PC Jay Clifton, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We believe this motorcyclist had a female pillion passenger who was wearing pink or red trousers. The motorbike they were riding is believed to have had a registration plate which began with a 'W'.

"The pair are believed to have stopped at the scene but have not yet spoken to officers. We are extremely keen to speak to them as they could be key witnesses to the investigation.

“This was a serious collision, and the motorbike was badly damaged as the photograph attached shows. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the rider are not life threatening and he is expected to make a recovery.

“We’d like to appeal to the motorcyclist and passenger, as well as any other witnesses who we have not already spoken to, to please contact police on 101.”

The carriageway was closed for four hours following the collision to allow for a full investigation to be carried out.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
