Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault on a man in Swindon.

The incident happened between the evening of Tuesday 29 November and the early hours of Wednesday 30 November 2016.

A man in his 20's was assaulted in the area near to the Transfer Bridges. He is currently in hospital in a stable condition.

Det Sgt Scott Anger said: "Firstly, I would like to reassure the local community that we are carrying out a thorough investigation into this incident.

"We are appealing for the public's assistance to help us trace those responsible.

"We would like to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the area at this time. In particular, we are especially interested in anyone who may have seen an altercation in the area involving a small group of men, or maybe you were in the area after the incident took place - did you see a man on his own looking injured?

"The roads around the Transfer Bridges are busy - if you were driving through the area and have a dash cam, you could potentially have footage which could help our investigation.

"Any information you have, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, please get in touch."

Call Swindon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
