The Couch to 100km Challenge returns for 2026, offering a free and accessible way for people of all abilities to build their cycling confidence and endurance.

Based at Moredon Sporting Hub, the programme is designed to take riders from their first tentative kilometres all the way up to an impressive 100km distance. The journey begins with skills and confidence sessions on the safe, traffic-free cycle track at Moredon Sporting Hub before progressing to group rides through the surrounding countryside. Distances start at 10km and increase weekly, allowing participants to improve at a comfortable and manageable pace.
Riders can take part using any type of bike, including e-bikes, and those without access to equipment can borrow a bike to get started. There is no requirement to commit to the full programme either—participants are free to join at any stage and attend as many sessions as they wish.
Led by experienced British Cycling ride leaders and cycling coaches, the sessions provide a supportive and social environment where riders can develop skills, improve fitness and meet like-minded people. Whether the goal is to complete the full 100km or simply to become more active, the emphasis is on personal progress and enjoyment.
Following a successful debut in 2025, this year’s challenge is expected to attract even more riders keen to discover just how far they can go.
