Ian Holloway's men will face League Two promotion rivals Salford City away at the Peninsula Stadium

The much-anticipated date for the FA Cup third round tie between Swindon Town and Salford City has finally been confirmed. The match is set to take place next month, marking a significant event in the football calendar for Swindon fans. The world's oldest football competition remains one of the most-watched cups in football today and The Robins will hope to make it to the fourth round by beating Salford.

Swindon Town are looking forward to making it into the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2012 if they can get by Salford. This match follows Swindon Town's impressive performance in the first two stages of the competition, where they defeated two League One clubs, Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers.

The third round tie will be held at the Peninsula Stadium, marking the first time since 2007 that Swindon Town have reached this stage without facing a Premier League club.

It has now been confirmed that the match between Swindon Town and Salford City is scheduled for Saturday, January 10th, with a 3pm kick-off.

This isn't the first time Swindon Town will be visiting Greater Manchester this season. Earlier in the campaign, they suffered a 3-2 loss to Karl Robinson's side in League Two due to a last-minute goal.

Interestingly, this is the second consecutive season that Swindon Town have lost at Salford City. Last year's defeat proved to be a significant one as it marked the end of Mark Kennedy's tenure as the manager of Swindon Town. Before these losses, Swindon Town had never lost at Salford City.

Those back-to-back league defeats away at the Peninsula may give Ian Holloway and his team food for thought as they look to avoid making it three consecutive away losses to Salford, and make it to the fourth round of the cup.

Swindon are ahead of Salford in the league and pushing for automatic promotion, but Salford are just a few places and points behind in the table.

The upcoming FA Cup third round tie between Swindon Town and Salford City promises to be an exciting and crucial match. With both teams vying for promotion and Swindon Town hoping to make it to the fourth round for the first time in nearly a decade, the stakes are high for both clubs.
