Swindon Scouts are ready for their Christmas post

Scouts across Swindon will once again be taking part in the annual Scout Christmas Post this year.

Since 1981, Scouts across the UK have been licensed to deliver Christmas cards only as part of a Scout Post.  In Swindon, this helps to raise the profile of Scouting within the local community and for Groups it raises vitals funds.

The self-adhesive stamps cost 30p each and can be used to send Christmas cards across the Swindon area.

The seventh Swindon (Abbey Meads) Scout Group, which covers North Swindon, will be selling stamps at Asda Walmart on the Orbital Retail Park at the following times:

  • Friday 24 November - 7pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 25 November - 10am to 4pm
  • Sunday 26 November - 10am to 4pm
  • Friday 1 December - 7pm to 8pm
  • Sunday 3 December - 10am to 4pm
  • Friday 8 December - 7pm to 8pm
  • Sunday 10 December - 10am to 4pm

Stamps will also be available during opening hours from the Uplands School Charity Shop in Redhouse (Monday – Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm, and Saturday - 10.00am to 4.00pm) and from Justin Tomlinson MP’s constituency office located in the Customer Services Hub from 1 November.

First Swindon Sea Scouts will be selling stamps at Morrisons, Haydon Wick at the following times:

  • Friday 24 November - 6pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 25 November - 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday 26 November - 10am to 4pm
  • Friday December 1 - 6pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 2 December - 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday 3 December - 10am to 4pm
  • Friday 8 December - 6pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 9 December 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday 10 December - 10am to 4pm

Special green collection box will be located across Swindon including at Asda and Morrisons ready to receive your cards.  Last collection from the post box will be 4pm on Tuesday 12 December. Cards will be delivered over the weekend of 16/17 December.

Current first class post is 65p and second class post is 56p.

The post service covers all areas of Swindon including Badbury, Bishopstone, Blunsdon, Burderop, Chiseldon, Draycott Foliat, Elcombe, Hannington, Highworth, Hinton Parva, Hodson, Inglesham, Langton Park, Liddington, Overtown, Red Barn, South Leaze, South Marston, Stanton Fitzwarren, Stratton St Margaret, Thorney Park, Wanborough, West Leaze, Wroughton.

Other towns and villages

The Scouts also  deliver to Wootton Bassett, Purton, Lydiard Millicent, Bushton, Clyffe Pypard, Tockenham, Broad Town, Cricklade, Latton, Ashton Keynes, Shrivenham, Watchfield, Bourton, Idstone, Ashbury and Kingston Winslow.
