V Cars reaches out to communities to extend support

V Cars, Swindon’s biggest taxi and private hire vehicle company, is offering its support to the council and NHS workers to use its fleet of vehicles, to assist with delivery and transportation within the local community.

V Cars is run by Veezu, which operates from four major service hubs throughout the UK, in the West Midlands and Shropshire, Leeds, and across South Wales and the South West and its network of driver-partners are on hand to support regular customers; their local communities and frontline NHS staff.

Veezu CEO Nathan Bowles has written to and communicated with leading political figures, including those within Swindon Borough Council to offer V Cars’ services.

Kane Wollen, V Cars General Manager in Swindon, said: “Our driver-partners always strike up conversations with our customers and feedback suggested a need for support with delivery of groceries and medication or essential medical equipment. We are more than willing to work with our local communities to collect and deliver on their behalf – this way we will also be doing our bit to promote social-distancing, by keeping footfall within supermarkets or shops to a minimum.”

Nathan Bowles is also liaising directly with supermarkets, GP surgeries, hospitals and restaurants to co-ordinate an efficient system to transport medicines and medical equipment, essential groceries or takeaway meals to those in need during the current highly challenging circumstances. 

Many restaurants across V Cars’ service areas affected by requirements to encourage social distancing are offering takeaway meals and V Cars’ driver-partners are keen to play their part in helping struggling restauranteurs with delivery requirements or can also provide transport to collect meals for any customers who have self-isolated.

Nathan said: “Many people are naturally concerned at the moment and feeling helpless or at a loss as to what to do in response to this current disruption.

“At Veezu we understand how this is a most challenging situation and our driver partners, who are very much central to the communities where they drive; are here to help. Veezu is more than a taxi service and we’re keen to reassure that we will do all that we can to assist. With all the advanced technology systems we have available as well as our extensive fleet of vehicles, we are well placed to offer solutions to complex transportation needs and we are keen to get involved.”
