Visit reclaimed canal on 1 May
A new section of the 19th Century Wilts & Berks canal towpath has been
restored and will be offi cially unveiled on Saturday 1 May, 11am.
Members of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust will be conducting tours of
the mile-long path which runs behind Nova Hreod School and Moredon
playing fi elds, parallel to the River Ray between Pembroke Park and
Cheney Manor. The reclaimed towpath joins up with an already restored
section of the canal at Mouldon Hill.
It will be a chance to fi nd out more about the trust’s plans to restore
the waterway between Melksham, Abingdon and Cricklade
Parking for the open day is at Moredon playing fi elds, off Darby Close,
opposite Manor Garden Centre on the Cheney Manor industrial estate.
