Dobbies garden centre in Swindon's Hyde Road store is kickstarting Autumn by exploring the magical world of mushrooms.
Children taking part in the Little Seedlings Club event can discover the hidden networks living beneath our feet, toadstools to spot during Autumn and even learn about mushrooms that glow in the dark.
Taking place on Sunday 4 October, the free-to-attend workshop will give children the chance to learn about mushrooms and explore fascinating UK species with funny names, before taking part in a mini activity and finishing off the workshop by creating a mirror-print mushroom painting to take home.
The free workshop at Dobbies’ Swindon will also allow the Little Seedlings to discover surprising ways fungi are used to help our planet as ‘nature’s recyclers’, as well as how to stay safe around wild mushrooms.
Dobbies’ Event Programme Manager Hannah Stephen said: “We’re excited to welcome back the Little Seedlings for October’s workshop on mushrooms and fungi, and this month’s club will be a great opportunity for children to get excited about the changing seasons.
"This fascinating topic is a fun way to encourage children to spend time outdoors, where they can spot mushrooms and toadstools this autumn.
“The free workshop is packed with engaging discussions, hands-on learning and fun-filled activities, and we look forward to seeing their mushroom paintings come to life.”
Dobbies’ Little Seedlings Club takes place every month at the Swindon store and covers a range of seasonal topics for children to take part in hands-on learning and playful exploration.
The workshops are designed to be fun and engaging to encourage the Little Seedlings to learn about gardening, nature and wildlife.
