Swindon’s most vibrant business network is on the look-out for a project co-ordinator to drive a new campaign which aims to shine a light on the town’s thriving digi-tech sector.

TechSwindon, which was launched by Switch on to Swindon, will bring together Swindon’s digi-tech cluster of businesses through a series of themed events, culminating in a two-day summit in 2020. The aim is to promote the town’s innovative tech companies, while also attracting additional talent and inward investment.

The team is looking for someone with proven experience, tech industry knowledge and a passion for Swindon’s business growth to galvanise support including from big names such as Catalent, Intel and Zurich as well as build strong connections with micros and SMEs too.

Nationwide Building Society confirmed its support and sponsorship of the year-long Tech Swindon campaign at the launch event in June. The company has also just announced its latest Swindon project to build Ramsbury House with 700 digital staff later this year, so the timing couldn’t have been better.

Jenny Groves, Switch On To Swindon Chair said: “The area has over 28,000 tech and digitally linked businesses, and Swindon has the UK’s third most productive tech sector. It was also recently awarded funding for the Institute of Technology. This is a strong and growing industry, which underpins many of Swindon’s successful companies in finance, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.”

The new co-ordinator will work with Appsbroker, one of Swindon’s fastest growing tech companies, to help position the campaign to attract talent to the town. “We are always recruiting,” said Mike Conner CEO of Appsbroker. “We currently have 170 staff, but we expect to grow to 1,000 in the next five years.

“We are looking for software engineers and data specialists. Building the awareness of Swindon's tech companies has to be the right approach to attracting, developing and retaining talent in Swindon.”

The contract will be funded by business contributions, will be hosted by Swindon Borough Council, and is suitable for a self-employed individual or company. Applications must be received before 4pm on the 25th July 2019 and the brief can be found here  https://bit.ly/2Y47d8u
