Swindon domestic abuse charity Society Without Abuse (SWA) is inviting people to put the kettle on, bake or buy-in a few treats and make a real difference by hosting an Afternoon Tea fundraiser.
Whether it's a gathering in a garden, village hall, workplace or community centre, every cup of tea poured and every slice of cake shared will help raise vital funds to support SWA's services across Swindon, Wiltshire and Bath and North East Somerset, supporting children and adults impacted by domestic abuse.
Cassie Dawson, Training and Business Development Officer for SWA, said: "Joining us to host an Afternoon Tea this summer is a great way to bring people together whilst making a difference to people and families who have been affected by domestic abuse.
“Every penny raised over a cup of tea or a scone will help us continue delivering vital support to those recovering from the trauma of domestic abuse, as well as our work with children and young people through local schools to prevent abuse happening in the future.
“Support and resources are available for those who want to host an afternoon tea for us, and hosts can choose a date that suits them.
"It’s a great opportunity for people to be able to make their Afternoon Tea as simple or as elaborate as they like.
"Guests can be invited to make a donation, enjoy the delicacies or play games, and, importantly, help raise awareness of domestic abuse and the help that is available too.
“Whilst bringing domestic abuse to an end might not be a piece of cake, fundraising for us whilst we work towards this goal certainly can be!”
Over the past 50 years, SWA has supported victims and their families to recover from the trauma of abuse.
Today across Swindon and Wiltshire, they not only support those affected but work to put a stop to domestic abuse happening in the future, through their HOPE programme delivering healthy relationships education to children and young people through schools.
Their Open2Change behaviour change programmes also targets those who use harmful behaviours.
