White Lodge care home in Braydon recently organised a visit to The Open Door Centre with a cheque for £1,300.

The money will be used to support adults with disabilities who take part in boxing and tennis.
The Open Door Centre in Grose Hill is a charity-based community centre supporting adults with disabilities.
Its main purpose is to empower members to live independently and build confidence through a safe, supportive environment.
The grant had been awarded by White Lodge parent firm Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health issues by offering grants to help them connect or re-connect with others in their local community.
White Lodge residents visited for a small gathering in the open door centre to present the cheque and celebrate being awarded the grant.
Open Door manager Nick Sawbridge said: “This funding will make a difference to the lives of our members.
"It will enable us to cover one year's coaching expense for tennis. We’re incredibly grateful for this support and thank you for visiting our centre."
Ramona Gherendi, General Manager at White Lodge Care Home, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities.
“We believe local charities is an important part of caring for our wider community. Charity community centres are close to our heart because it provides friendship, connection and support for all kinds of people.
"We are delighted to present this grant and hope it helps the Open Door centre continue its wonderful work, creating opportunities for adults to stay connected, active and valued within the community”.
