The EI Team supports individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis, where sufferers begin to perceive or interpret things differently from those around them and sometimes involve hallucinations or delusions.
James Ducker, owner of Decent Group, said: “I've been fortunate to see at first hand the truly caring, compassionate approach with which the EI team supported a much-loved friend and colleague with his challenging, and at times really frightening, illness. Thankfully he has now returned to work.”
The allotment, secured from Swindon Borough Council who arranged for it to be cleared, mowed and renovated, provides service users with an area where they can be at peace and build their motivation and concentration. This promotes recovery, helping people regain their confidence and return to their daily lives. The low ongoing cost of renting the allotment means that the project will remain affordable and sustainable well into the future.
Following the Decent donation, the mental health trust was able to purchase a large workshop for the allotment to provide service users with an area to relax and work on other aspects of their recovery.
Helen Mills, Community Mental Health Nurse at AWP said: “The Decent Group donation towards the workshop allows us to provide a shelter at the allotment for service users the whole year round. We are extremely grateful for everyone’s support.”
