Staff at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy (RWBA) Sixth Form have been celebrating the achievements of their students recently with a number of different awards.

The awards were said to have included The Excellence in Law Award, The Spirit of Mad Dog Award and The Subject Award for Mathematical Studies.

The awards were handed out by the Headteacher of the Sixth Form, and three special outside visitors.

The Excellence in Law Award was presented to Chandi. She was given with a certificate and plaque from Soniya Woolnough (Senior Partner) and Kirsty Whetham (Operations Manager) from Bevirs Law.

Staff at RWBA Sixth Form said Chadni, has been excelling in her Law studies and plans to go to University to study Law when she leaves Sixth Form. The Award was sponsored by Bevirs Law based in Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett Academy and Calne.

Bevirs continue to work alongside the Sixth Form, attending careers events to showcase and present information to the students.

The Spirit of Mad Dog Award was awarded to Alex. He was presented with a certificate and trophy from Tom Bowen-Hall - coach at MadDog Rugby.

Sixth Form staff believe Alex has represented the values of the MadDog Academy and is continuously engaged when out on the field. MadDog Rugby offers programmes, and also work closely with RWBA Sixth Form to use rugby as a way to focus on individual students’ personal development.

The Subject Award for Mathematical Studies was awarded to Lia. As an additional subject on top of her A Levels, staff said Lia proved herself a worthy winner, exceeding expectations in completing her work. The certificate and plaque was presented by Katharine Salmon, Head of RWBA Sixth Form, on behalf of the Maths department.

Katharine said: “All of the students worked extremely hard to achieve these awards and they are well deserved. Working alongside these companies to celebrate student successes is a massive privilege for RWBA Sixth Form.

"Student recognition is something I think is extremely important as it gives them the feeling of achievement. Congratulations to all the students and a special thank you to the outside visitors who came in to hand out the awards.”
